Dances with your money

Saw this commercial at my brother in laws and thought I read something that couldn't be true but he doesn't have dvr so couldn't rewind or pause. Last night it came on at home and I could pause and confirm...

That white lady in the photo must be Poca-rob-us of the wester sky indian reservation where you can get up to a 10k loan online/same day! Thanks! Why is the indian reservation key? Because the APR is 89.68%!! That's right, Don Crooked Feather is the loan shark for the 21st century, the fine print also lets you know a typical loan can be repaid with 84 monthly payments of 774.99 (about 64k). Whose getting scalped now whitey?!! I guess the native americans no longer do rain dances in the sense of farmer/crop, but now do rain dances in sense of rapper/stripclub! So if you need a loan quick and don't mind a tonto stick to the bunghole, contact western sky, it only took a few hundred years but they have learned to be on the profitable side of a very lopsided financial agreement. But they still arent getting manhattan back! (maybe, our national debt is like 16trillion, hmmm wonder what the monthly payments would be?!)

Small talk

One of the perks of my job (when the weather is nice) is I get to leave the office everyday to go to the 5 banks around my office and drop off deposits. Bank tellers unfortunately are the kings of small talk and I hate small talk. My favorite tellers are the ones that keep it to the very minimum. The ones that I dislike the most act as if we have (or need to have because I try with short awnsers to not encourage the behavior) some running dialogue and connection beyond what we really have - a work acquantence. I dont care that you saw me here or driving there, really - you were on break and saw me next door at the other bank? Shocking, because I go there every fucking day Mr. Holmes!

My real curiosity is if anyone ever gets truthful with them? We tell kids not to lie but we all do. How many times a day are you ask hows your day or how is it going? Probably 3 times a day on average? And no matter how bad your day is, what do we say in a employee/consumer situation like teller/depositor or barista/caffeine junkie... You say fine/ok/good thanks or something along those lines. But you never ever say, well since you asked I'm in the depths of the lowest I've ever been where I'm teetering between angry and scared and euphoric misery that I thought only capable with drugs created in a cia lab to coax the truth out of terrorists... Or something like that - equal parts truth and embellishment designed to get you to never ask me how I'm doing again!

Probably not, but if it ever does happen, I hope I'm in line behind them so I can see it and smile.

one of those things

There are some things (not as many as people tell you there are - narcissism runs rampant) that you can hear or witness others going through and think you know, but till you go through them you just don't know. The other day I was telling my wife that i'm having one of those type of moments recently where I wildly swing emotionally from 'I can't wait for the baby to be hear and to be a father now!' to 'what/who/how the fuck am I going to be a father, i'm an insane self-centered bumbling idiot who does good to not get arrested on a daily basis...' - I've read/heard about feelings like this, but really I must say that it is hilarious to experience. Almost an out of body like experience where you look at your self and say "hey crazy man, take some Xanax already". Any way, here is a clip from one of my favorite movies where a guy flips out in his car over his friends return after disappearing ten years earlier right after graduation. Oh yeah and this is also the similar reaction I had in the car driving back from the 2005 OSU v Michigan game with my friend Munish; whom was equal parts terrified and hysterically laughing as I pounded my steering wheel every minute (in Joyous disbelief) screaming 'I can't believe we won that fucking game!!' in bumper to bumper traffic heading home. So enjoy this clip and remember a moment where the only reaction appropriate is to wildly expel disbelief at a moment or situation doesn't happen often so enjoy them when they do...

A fairly embarrassing confession

I don't usually do fads and actually things that are real trendy I tend to avoid doing vehemently, even if it seems something I might enjoy. So I must confess that after it's been the number one game ever for years and I've made fun of people that play it etc etc etc... That while I was with my wife in hospital a couple of weeks ago and very bored I began playing Angry Birds on her ipad and got addicted. It's horribly embarrassing, but what can I say the stupid game is fun and free. Now I beat all the levels and refuse to buy the pay version, but I am still playing the free one because yes I beat every level, but I have yet to get perfect 3 star rating on all levels. Anyway enjoy a chuckle at my expense, I am a big fat hypocrite who loves playing Angry Birds even if my wife laughs at me while I do so.

Seg 3 picks

Off to a pretty good start to the 2012 season for my picks and for my favorite driver. Hopefully both those trends continue and hopefully the 88 team will turn being up front every week into a win and this week at Dega would be the perfect place. As you will see in my picks, I don't have any faith that segment 3 holds a track where the 88 team will get to victory lane. Yes Pocono and Michigan are ok tracks for Jr., but not places you'd mention him in top 5 or even maybe top 10 guys to win. Never know, they could prove me wrong and win both or Sonoma, yeah right. Anyway my picks for seg 3 are...

Darlington - 56, ok my first non traditional big boys team pick of the season is for the incredibly with-it MWRacing Napa car. That team has been good good good and I was surprised to see how consistent Martin Truex numbers are at Darlington, hopefully he will make me look like a genius and nobody else will have him as their pick.

Charlotte - 48, duh yes it sickening, but this team just doesn't screw up often, even when they do (like this past week) they still finish strong (like 6th after pit problems at a short track? how?!) and it is Charlotte where lets face it they dominate.

Dover - 18, looks like Kyle might be getting some mojo back and I hate to say it but he is good and really good at the monster mile.

Pocono - 11, he already has 2 wins this year and maybe he has recovered from giving the cup away in 2010 and is poised to get his first? I hope not, cause duh I'm for the 88, but if Hamlin is to get his first cup look for him to sweep the Pocono weekend. Oh yeah, if I win the lottery I'm going to Pocono instead of playing golf that Saturday while my wife has her baby shower.

Michigan - 99, hard to believe that will be 1 yr since last race I went to, not looking good for making a race this year, but that's ok, cause looking good to take my kid to races in a couple of years and that will be way cool! Oh yeah my pick, Ford is usually pretty dominate at their home track and look for that to continue just which driver will it be because the 17 and 16 are also good picks. (Also this is last place the 88 team won a points race almost 4 years ago in 2008, I really hope that is no longer a true statement by the time this race comes around)

and finally...

Sonoma - 42, ah the track where you can safely pick a DEI car to win and really it's only because you could put JPM in the least competitive teams worst car at the road courses and he would run up front. His worse finish at this track is 22nd and that was I believe the race where he got into an "F-it all" mode and just started having a dump-off contest with some of his fellow drivers. Look for him to keep it clean and get another win on a road coarse and fueling the fires of those that (wrongly) claim he's only good on road courses. Also look for him to find a better team whenever his current contract is up because I believe it is not him but sadly his equipment. And is there anyone who wonders why Jr. wanted majority control of DEI and left when he didn't get it?

So that's it till segment 4
