Seg 5 picks

Only 1 segment, 6 races till the chase and my driver and team 88 are hanging on about as well as our national economy. Lets hope both pull some magic out their arse and save us....

Really aside from the traffic debacle at Kentucky and last weeks Menardageddon at the brickyard, it has been a great year of racing with multiple first time winners, crazy finishes and lack of one driver wining everything. Lets hope for more and maybe a new champion - finally.

As for my success, it has been up and down, but with my wife in second, my brother-in-law in third and me in fourth - I still have high hopes that (for the 4th yr in a row) the trophy will stay in the family. Of course this will only be if we can run down el presidente, whom is using his respite from commissioner to study and crunch numbers apparently because he has been up on the wheel for most of the season. Nice job, but mind your mirrors sir!!

On to the picks...

Pocono, 24 wins - what can I say, Pocono is a track with a history of yearly sweeps and the 24 is looking like the old boy wonder on the track, so look for him to get the Pocono double this weekend.

WatGlen, 14 wins - well everyone was worried about smoke and his summer hot streak hasn't started yet, but he has been better and as a owner his team is looking up. He is just sick at this course where a bad finish for him is like fifth. Thought about going down under with Marcus Ambrose here cause he is tough on any road course and overall is pretty impressive considering he is running with not top tier equipment, but stuck with the safe pick in smoke, we will see if everyone else does the same.

Mich, 17 wins - Mr. Quiet gets it done in Ford land this aug and as he does just quietly stays in the chase and tries to get a second championship. For a cheesehead wisc, ford guy, he's ok. Well as ok as a wisconsin kid can be in my book, which isn't high.

Bristol, 18 wins - Hate the guy, but he has won 4 of last 5 at bristol which is sick. Hard to believe because bristol just breeds bad luck, hopefully he is due and will get dumped in the wall and finish 43 where he deserves to be, but i'll bet he doesn't. If you can't beat'em - bet on them.

Atlanta, 88 wins - For the love of all holy, you have wins at all 4 of the final tracks of this segment and you are fairly decent at pocono, the road course is your only weakness. Pull together, get a win, finish strong every weak. Here is how next 6 weeks should go for you 1st, 15th, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, is that too much to ask? Ok, maybe, but come on, i'll settle for top 10, top 20, and then all top 10's with 1 win in the last 4. We will see...

Richmond, 33 wins - Ivan will probably need a win here to get in the chase unless he really turns it on in the next 5 races. Maybe he should not eat cheerios for breakfast, maybe switch to a high fiber cereal that is "healthier". I like the high fiber cereals, I mean I haven't lost any weight, but a bowl of grape nuts and a cup of coffee everyday and no need for the orange juice on the bowl like when you were a kid!! Hows that for a visual image?!

So there you have it, another segments picks in the books. Go luck to all playing, but most especially (i will miss coach T's most especially comments) to me and team 88!!!!
