Catching up on my thoughts...

Happy New Year to all, it’s been awhile since my last post. The holidays flew by as usual, I spent time with family, read a lot, and watched a very good (and young) buckeye men’s basketball team. They are exciting, getting better, and (as usual) over sadly overlooked by buckeye fans. As good as our football base is (and by base I mean no matter what they are there in droves) our bball fans with same fervor is no where as large. I am one of the few and am looking forward to a great season, maybe a magical one?!

Sooooooo, on to football….. I think I will email this to my few followers so that you will get this before tonight’s Sugar Bowl – thus you will have my meaningless take on tattoegate.

I have 6 tattoos, and would have more, but they are expensive. I know the larger part of this is about selling gear and stuff, but the ‘ink’ issue gets straight to my point. FANS are so naïve, people you need to WAKE UP, major college athletics is pro sports. Do people realize that baseball is the only sport with a large minor league (pro) feeder system to the pro’s and, surprise surprise, the only major sport without a significant college draft! Hmmmmm? Hockey people I said MAJOR sport, shut up. Football and Basketball both have very important college entry drafts and no minor league. How does ‘ink’ illustrate my point, well before most of these guys (at least the ones into ink) finish high school they have thousands of thousands of dollars in ‘ink’, think they paid for it? Probably if it is good work, it was at best trade at worst free. Any bowl game this season probably has 6 figures worth on ‘ink’ on the field if it was paid for by you or I. A good (not great) good artist charges roughly 100 bucks per hr (thus why I haven’t got one in 4+ yrs). Heard Craig Krenzel say last he heard in 2004 the monthly expense check for rent and utilities etc a player got was 1400 bucks, you can rent a 6 bedroom house on campus for 700 bucks a month, that’d be about a 115 a player per month. Guess football team doesn’t have any accounting majors?! I believe their families may have hard times, but there are Pell grants and regular student loans that payment is deferred till they leave school and require little work to get. We are talking loans of about 15k a year with deferred payments at like 3 percent interest, which if they really do make it big in NFL would be paid off easy and if not, join the rest of us in the debt to college for next decade club. For the fan’s that say “I don’t care we are different”, NO, we are the leaders, we have more sports than any other U in the world all supported by ONE thing, the football team. How? By being very good and making but tons of money from people that will pay 74 bucks face value to watch the Eastern Michigan game! Wake up! My local sports radio station has been a buzz with morons! You want it the old way, fucking root for Otterbein! Hell, Mt Union hasn’t been dominating div 3 ball on the up and up! I played with a guy who got a car his family couldn’t afford 2 days after signing his letter of intent with Mt. Union and that was 13 yrs ago. The college football world needs toothpicks in its eyelids, so no one can blink. Oh, almost forgot, Mary May… Fuck you too!! If this happened in SEC (to say auburn or bama) the bowl game would have been preserved by the NCAA for the pockets of the BCS. There is a bylaw in SEC that clearly says Cam Newton was ineligible to play this season and yet some how on the 10th we are not watching Oregon vs. TCU are we? No! This is big business period, you have 3 options – one, be aware and hope your team doesn’t get caught – two, berry your head in the sand and say not us not us we are different excuse excuse excuse – or three, go watch something else. Sorry for the vitriol of that rant, but I hate people who don’t know the world is gray.

As for the game, I think 9-1 has killed a demon inside me. I’m not obsessed or sick like normal. I want my team to win, I will cheer like always come game time, but I’m not losing sleep or worried about what I wore today. If we loose I’ll be a little pissed analyze the game and move on. 9-1 in ten years, unreal!

As for TP, your character has shown it’s self more than ever thru this, you are a coward. It is why you didn’t lead your team thru adversity in Madison and why despite your great abilities you won’t ever be elite. You are phony tough, all talk, and no walk! Sad, you could be best ever if you’d get over yourself, and I don’t mean say you understand, but actually have a change. As for your 3 wins as a starter verse herbie’s 1 tie as a starter, well your defense and running game verse 3 of horrible richrod teams (while great and still a win) are nothing compared to herbie’s tie with a still not there talent wise cooper team. The fact that you would throw that in a fellow buckeye face shows your immaturity and lack of class. I know he wouldn’t sell his rings or gold pants or awards if he were fortunate to have them. You do not deserve mention with herbie, krenzel, troy, etc etc…….
If there was an award for unfulfilled potential and wasting talent thru poor decisions and actions, you would win in a landslide and deep down, the reason you get mad when people question you is you know the are right! Please please do what you do and break your word and go pro; we were good before you and will be good after you, no doubt! Go bucks!!
